The families living on the streets and the street children affected the worst. They had to lose their belongings, suffered without sleep for many days. When the rains stopped they had to put up with the risk of diseases and health hazards.
Karunalaya reached these families and provided with relief food and required materials and water.
The primary focus of the relief work was on those who were stranded on roof tops and houses where people could not go. Pavement dwelling families were neglected until their plight came to light.
